Does it work across time zones?
Yes. There's no timer and no posting window, so nobody is woken up by a ritual. Your friend's day fills in whenever they add to it, and you read it whenever you're awake. Waking up to their finished Tuesday while yours is starting is honestly part of the charm.
Isn't the group chat enough?
The group chat is great at headlines, memes, and logistics. It's bad at texture. Nobody texts "picked up my prescription and had a weird sandwich" unprompted. hodgepodge carries exactly that layer, so the chat gets to stay fun and you still know what everyone's days actually look like.
