Accountability partner app
say what you're doing today. someone else can see it.
That’s the entire mechanism. No coach, no contract, no streak to protect at 11:58pm. Just your real list, written where a friend will notice. Which turns out to be exactly enough.

Most accountability apps assume you need pressure: streaks that shatter, money on the line, a bot that scolds you. But if you’ve ever told a friend “I’m finally doing my taxes today” and then actually done them, you already know the gentler truth: being seen works better than being punished.
On hodgepodge, accountability is a side effect of the daily check-in. In the morning you write down what today holds. In the evening, your person sees how it went: the checkmarks and the honest leftovers.

“The scary email took 11 minutes. Eleven. I dreaded it for a month.”
The folder survives to fight another day, and that’s fine. It carries forward with one tap, in plain view, until the day it finally gets a checkmark and somebody who’s been watching the saga sends the world’s most deserved “FINALLY.” That comment does more than any streak ever did.
witnesses, not scorekeepers.
It works for whatever you’re quietly working on: the side project, the couch-to-5k, the thesis, the sourdough arc. Your people don’t audit you. They just see you showing up, day after ordinary day, and you see them. The record below is what that looks like after a few months. Gaps included. Gaps allowed.

fair questions.
How is it accountability if there are no streaks or penalties?
The mechanism is witnesses, not punishment. Writing "gym" on a list only you can see is a suggestion; writing it where your friend will see it tonight is a small promise. That tiny bit of visibility is usually enough. And unlike streak apps, it still works the week after you get sick.
Do I need a formal accountability partner?
No contract, no matching service, no assigned buddy. You just add a friend or partner on hodgepodge (mutually, one person is plenty) and your daily lists become visible to each other. The "partnership" is simply two people who can see each other showing up.
What happens when I don't finish my list?
Nothing scolds you. Unfinished tasks can be carried to tomorrow with one tap, and an honest half-done list is more useful to your people than a perfect fake one. The bad days are allowed in the record. That's what makes the good ones believable.
